University of Ghana’s Senior Staff Association suspends strike
The Senior Staff Association of the University of Ghana (SSA-UG) has suspended its industrial strike action, which began on May 18.
In a letter signed by the National Chairman of SSA-UG, Zacharias Mohammed, members of the Association were asked to resume work effective Monday, June 14, without delay.
He said the decision to back down on the strike action follows several interventions by some key stakeholders and government agencies.
This, he said, culminated “to ensure sincere, balance, fair and a speedy resolution of all the impasse between us [Association] and government.”
The Association indicated that they will continue to pursue the payment of arrears of the Tier 2 pension contribution despite calling off the strike.
