Amenfi Central: The matter regarding NDC PC’s eligibility is postponed until November 11 by the Sekondi High Court

The case of the NDC application to overturn the injunction that prevented the Electoral Commission from recognising the Amenfi Central Parliamentary Candidate has been postponed until Monday, November 11 by the Sekondi High Court’s commercial division, which is presided over by His Lordship Justice Gyan-Kontor.

Despite a prior High Court decision in Sekondi on May 13, 2024, which had mandated that Joana Gyan Cudjoe be recognised as the legitimate candidate, the EC’s refusal to recognise Cudjoe as the duly elected NDC candidate for Amenfi Central prompted the National Democratic Congress to file a new writ at the Sekondi High Court.

Attorneys for Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, tried to get an injunction lifted at the Sekondi High Court today. She was taken off the Notice of Poll as a result of the injunction.

The parties were unable to reach a consensus on lifting the injunction during a half-hour break. They were instructed by Justice Gyan-Kontor to settle the intra-party dispute by Sunday. If they are successful, they will continue with the case after reporting back on Monday.

Today, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Amenfi Central NDC parliamentary candidate, appeared in court. At first, when asked to leave for a conversation, she seemed upset. But when she was given till Sunday to fix the problem, her attitude shifted to one of ease.
She started interacting and being more transparent with her supporters. Unfortunately, today’s court appearance by the Electoral Commission was not made.

However, a few National Democratic Congress regional officials were there to show support for their party member.
