Two suspected thieves beaten at New Juabeng, one dies from torture
Two suspected thieves have been mobbed in Betom, a suburb of New Juaben South Municipality in the Eastern Region.
According to information gathered, one of the thieves has died from excessive torture.
Sources say the sad incident occurred on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
It is understood that the suspected thieves attempted to steal big Aluminum cooking pots belonging to a Chop bar operator at Betom when some youth in the area nabbed them.
Residents that engaged in the mobbing of the suspects tortured the two and inflicted nail and cutlass wounds on them.
Eyewitness say the mob later realised the two may die at their hands and as a result dragged the bodies and abandoned them at the Apenteng Hall area.
After struggling for a while, one of the suspects who was in excruciating pain appealed for water, porridge, and bread.
A good Samaritan obliged but after police came to their rescue, one of the suspected thieves died after they were sent to the Eastern Regional Hospital.
The Police are currently investigating the incident to ascertain what really happened.
