Two motorbike robbers grabbed at Dzodze
The police in Dzodze in the Volta Region have arrested two persons they suspect have been using motorbikes to commit robberies in the area.
The suspects have been named as Michael Maccatus, age 31 and Wisdom Agbotokpo, age 25.
The two, according to the Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP EffiaTenge, hired the services of a commercial motor rider (Okada rider) from Tadzewu to Ave-Dakpa on September 28, 2021 about 2:30pm and unknown to the victim, the suspects had concealed a cutlass and jack knife on them and had the intention of attacking him and taking possession of his motorbike.
“While on transit at Ative near Tadzewu, suspects ordered the victim to stop. They further ordered him to surrender his motorbike keys which he declined. The suspects then attacked the victim with their weapons and inflicted wounds on his head, but victim managed to escape into the bush with the motorbike keys,” DSP Tenge disclosed.
She said suspect Maccatus and Agbotokpo then pushed the motorbike away from the scene, adding “The victim later made a distress call to his colleagues in Tadzewu, who pursued suspects and arrested them at Kugbakorpe, near Xevi with the motorbike.
“The suspects were then handed over to the Dzodze Police where victim later lodged a formal complaint for assistance. Both cutlass and jack knife have been retrieved from suspects as well as the Sanya motorbike.”
DSP Tenge said the victim has received medical attention and is in good health, adding that “Michael Maccatus and Wisdom Agbotokpo will be arraigned before the Tokor Circuit Court after investigations are over.
“The Command also expresses its appreciation to the youth of Tadzewu for the bravery and patriotic spirit exhibited in arresting these miscreants. We believe that together we can fight crime to the barest minimum and also encourage the public to continue such partnership.”
