NPP and NDC members argue about the commissioning of DRIP machines in Gomoa West.
In the Gomoa West District, the recently initiated District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) saw the commissioning of earth-moving machinery that descended into violence.
Although specifics of the altercation are still unknown, rumours suggest that participants were from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The sequence of events was reported to Adom News by the District Chief Executive, Bismarck Nkum, who also serves as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Gomoa West.
According to him, when the current member of parliament, Richard Gyan-Mensah, arrived with a few irate NDC party members, the presidents of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council and the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council were prepared to put the machines into service.
Mr. Nkum claimed that the MP interrupted the show by threatening to brandish a cutlass, shackles, and firearms.
Richard Gyan-Mensah, the MP for Gomoa West, has refuted the claims, nevertheless.
