Manhyia North MP accused of lying, betrayal by Assembly Man
The Assembly Member for Buokrom Estate, Kwame Agyemang has accused Member of Parliament of Manhyia North, Akwasi Konadu of betraying his trust and confidence reposed in him (the MP).
He said Hon Konadu spewed falsehood about him and a chief (name withheld) to someone irate youth of Buokrom Estate.
The said falsehood peddled by the MP angered some youth of the area who thronged the Assembly Man’s house, issuing threats and verbally assaulting him.
“They said myself and a chief have connived and taken bribe from a contractor to demolish the Buokrom football park, but that is not true,” he noted.
He explained that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on reshaping, leveling and fencing of the park signed by him and the Contractor became public knowledge.
The attack by the youth of the area, he recounted, happened few moments after he showed the contract document of the contractor working on a section of the road to the MP which should have been kept confidential.
What caused his hatred for the MP whom he has always “fought” for, according to him, was the fact that there was nothing like demolishing the park in the contract.
Speaking on a Kumasi based radio station, Silver FM’s morning show dubbed Omanbapa, Hon Kwame Agyemang told the host Nana Ampratwum that “I’m really disappointed in him.”
He added, “I’m focused and poised to helping and developing my Electoral area and improve the welfare of the people so these things don’t discourage me.”
Calling for support towards developing the constituency, the disappointed Assemblyman urged the people of Buokrom Estate to remain calm as he has no intention of doing anything to destroy the park.
