A Catholic priest was discovered dead in a hotel, Following time spent with his girlfriend,

Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, a 43-year-old Catholic priest, passed away a few hours after checking into a hotel with his lover.

He and a 32-year-old woman booked into the Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga on Friday, July 8, 2023.
According to reports, detectives in Nairobi have opened an inquiry into the death of the priest from St. Peters Ruai.

According to a police report, the priest’s unexpected dizziness prompted the woman to ask the hotel management for help. He was driven urgently to Kenol Hospital in Murang’a but was already dead when he got there.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of his death after the untimely death sparked concerns.

The police report read in part;

“One Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku aged 43yrs old, a Catholic priest at Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer at Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be his colleague at the workplace in Ruai.

“Then, this morning (Saturday) at around 0800hrs, the priest’s girlfriend notified the hotel management that the boyfriend was dizzy and getting unconscious so that they could rush him to the hospital. They then rushed him to Kenol Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
