IGP warns: Don’t be exploited for electoral wrongdoing; you will face consequences.
As the December elections draw near, Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare has cautioned the public against being used for political purposes.
He issued a warning that those who engage in such behaviour will be subject to the full weight of the law.
Speaking at the Eastern region’s Akyem-Manso police station’s commissioning, the IGP claims that the police have put policies in place to enable them recognise early warning signs and respond appropriately.
“My people will not spare you, so don’t be seduced into causing chaos at the polls. Remember that those who would try to mislead you will turn off their phones and just leave you behind once you are detained,” he said.
Dr. Akuffo Dampare urged people to use their constitutional rights in a peaceful manner without violating those of others.
Additionally, he gave Ghanaians his word that the polls would be peaceful.
