A fresh illegal mining (galamsey) siege on the Tano-Anwia forest reserve in the Western region’s Aowin municipality has resulted in two fatalities and one critically injured.
JoyNews can confirm that on Wednesday, January 22, two gangs besieged the woodland and engaged in combat, resulting in two fatalities and one critically wounded from bullet wounds.

They confiscated some of the forest guards’ guns, according to JoyNews checks.
According to Forestry Commission sources, the most recent invasion has made it impossible for forest guards to carry out their duty.
