Parents protest the withheld results at the WAEC Kumasi headquarters.

On Wednesday, a mob of irate parents and students stormed the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) Kumasi office, demanding the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results that had been withheld.
The withheld results prevent the impacted pupils, primarily from T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, from continuing with university admissions. More than 2,000 of the school’s students have reportedly been impacted.

The parents claimed that WAEC had sent them messages telling them to come to the regional office to find out if their children had committed any kind of exam misconduct.

However, JoyNews’ Nana Boakye Yiadom reports that when they arrived at the office as early as 8 a.m., they were met with silence from WAEC officials, which prompted them to demand immediate answers.

The parents maintain that their children’s academic futures are in danger because of the delay in the results’ release.

In order to avoid more disruptions to the pupils’ education, they have encouraged WAEC to move quickly and reach a resolution.
