On December 7, NDC cautions EC against using washable indelible ink.
Ahead of the general elections on Saturday, December 7, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has encouraged the Electoral Commission (EC) to rectify any outstanding concerns from the special voting process.
The party voiced its displeasure, pointing out issues with the behaviour of certain election workers and the purported use of easily erasable indelible ink.
In order to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and avoid any anomalies during the main poll, the NDC has demanded that the issue be fixed right away.
The party also urged security services to take tough action to protect the integrity of the elections and advised its members to stay vigilant.
The NDC’s Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Abbas Nurudeen, stressed the party’s dedication to vigilance in a statement to the media in Kumasi on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
“We are keeping a close eye on the activities of specific EC officials and their associates on the ground. We urge all of our Ashanti Region supporters, sympathisers, and change-makers to cast their ballots in force for H.E. John Dramani Mahama and all of the NDC’s parliamentary candidates,” he stated.
The EC’s use of purportedly cleanable indelible ink during the special polling exercise was also criticised by Nurudeen, who said it would allow electoral fraud including multiple voting and impersonation.
He disclosed that regional EC representatives had promised to replace the defective ink. “We trust the promises made are sincere. We will not allow the use of readily washed indelible ink on voting day,” he said.
