Mahama vows a 200,000-hectare boost to the sector and a good cocoa price in August.

According to President John Dramani Mahama, a new and far more favourable cocoa producer price would be introduced in August 2025, providing growers nationwide with a huge incentive.
President Mahama promised cocoa farmers during his Thank You trip in the Ahafo Region on Saturday, May 31, that his administration is dedicated to reviving the cocoa industry, which he claimed has suffered severe setbacks in recent years.
The President said, “Plans are underway to revamp the collapsed cocoa sector.”
“Our diligent farmers will receive incentives to boost cocoa production.
To raise our farmers’ incomes, we want to enhance Ghana’s cocoa production by 200,000 hectares.
Speaking to a group of farmers and community members, President Mahama revealed that he had received a briefing from COCOBOD’s CEO regarding the plans to reveal the new cocoa price in August.
The COCOBOD Chief Executive has told me that the new cocoa producer price would be announced in August for cocoa growers. Additionally, he promised that the pricing would be extremely affordable.
“So those of you who don’t have cocoa farms, go and start looking for land and start planting cocoa,” he continued, urging more Ghanaians to pursue a career in cocoa farming.
The President’s comments are a part of a larger government plan to empower rural communities and revitalise Ghana’s agricultural foundation.
It is anticipated that the prospect of a positive cocoa price will revitalise cocoa-producing areas and rebuild industry trust.
