Mahama promises, “Don’t give up; we’ll keep your lights on

Ghanaians have been reassured by President John Dramani Mahama that his administration is steadfast in its resolve to address the energy problem and avoid a return to the days of “dumsor” (repeated power outages).

During his remarks at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana’s National Convention on Thursday, January 9, President Mahama recognised the nation’s pressing issues, especially those related to electricity.

He reassured the public that his administration is totally dedicated to taking on these problems head-on.
“We are taking office at a pivotal moment in the history of our country. Ghana is dealing with serious issues. But you elected us for just that reason.

He said, “We will take responsibility for solving those challenges and we will openly let you know what they are.”
The President emphasised the imminent risk of power disruptions brought on by a shortage of fuel for power generating.
He did, however, exhort Ghanaians to hold onto their optimism and faith in his government’s capacity to come up with long-term fixes.

“Power outages are a possibility, but don’t give up, my brothers and sisters. President Mahama stated, “You elected us to solve the problems, not to place the blame elsewhere.”

He disclosed that he called a conference of stakeholders on Wednesday, January 8, to develop and put into action creative plans to stabilise the energy supply.
“I can guarantee you that they have thought of some ideas. He said, “We’ll make sure your lights remain on and that we don’t have dumsor.”

According to President Mahama, his administration is ready to take the lead in resolving the energy sector’s problems, which need for immediate and cooperative measures.
