Mahama commends CEO Sammy Gyamfi, saying Goldbod is already making great strides.

Sammy Gyamfi, the CEO of the Ghana GoldBoard (Goldbod), has received plaudits from President John Mahama for what he calls an outstanding start to the new organization’s operations.
Originally called the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), the Ghana GoldBoard was formally established on April 2, 2025, with the responsibility of monitoring and controlling gold trading operations within the nation.

Only a few weeks after its founding, the Goldbod is said to have achieved great progress and produced outcomes that President Mahama has praised as exceptional.

During an address in the Ahafo Region as part of his nationwide “Thank You” tour, the President introduced the NDC National Communications Officer and stated, “Mr. Sammy Gyamfi is the Chief Executive of the Ghana Goldbod that is already doing wonders.”

There has been a surge of public support and praise for Mr. Gyamfi, and many people believe that Goldbod’s leadership has contributed to the cedi’s recent appreciation.

The value of the local currency has increased to about GH¢10 to the US dollar from a peak of almost GH¢16 to the dollar last year.

Many residents and market watchers have expressed confidence about this development.

Dr. Johnson Asiama, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, has reaffirmed the central bank’s resolve to maintain the cedi’s recovery in the meantime.
He stressed continued initiatives to fortify the local currency and keep it competitive with other world currencies.
