Otumfuo Honours Kofi Kinaata with 'Youth in Entertainment Award'

At a special ceremony conducted at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, May 9, 2025, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, presented renowned artist Kofi Kinaata with the “Youth in Entertainment Award.”
Widely recognised for his socially conscious music and thought-provoking lyrics, Kofi Kinaata has become a unique performer whose creations continue to uplift and have a beneficial impact on society. He has gained a reputation as a voice for the people since his music frequently tackles important social concerns.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II already acknowledged Kinaata’s influence by referring to his popular song “Susuka” as a song “full of wisdom” at the Ghana Bar Association’s General Conference in September 2024.

Kofi Kinaata is nominated for several awards at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, including Best Highlife Artiste of the Year, Best Highlife Song of the Year, Best Music Video of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album/EP of the Year. This recognition comes just one day before the awards.

The Manhyia Palace’s Otumfuo Millennium Excellence Awards honour people who have significantly impacted the growth of the country in a variety of fields. The awards provide special attention to people whose work helps the impoverished, widows, orphans, and other disadvantaged groups.

At the ceremony, Dr. Nick Danso, CEO of Ghana Link Network Services; Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, CEO of Special Ice Water; and Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of the Despite Group of Companies, were among the other notable honourees of the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize.

President John Mahama was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.
