Joining Vybz Kartel on stage is akin to winning a Grammy. Wale Shatta

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Shatta Wale claims that sharing the stage with Vybz Kartel, a legend in the Jamaican dancehall scene, is like getting a Grammy Award, which is perhaps the most coveted honour in the music business.
“This is a dream come true for Shatta Movement fans; the experience has been beautiful,” Shatta Wale told JoyNews upon his arrival from Jamaica. Everybody is aware of my dancehall musical career, and playing alongside Vybz Kartel is an absolute dream.
In response to the significance of his Freedom Street performance for his career, Shatta Wale went on, “For me, getting Vybz Kartel’s endorsement is like winning a Grammy. My greatest accomplishment is getting Vybz’s support and performing with him because he is a well-known and beloved artist on a global scale.”
The only Ghanaian performer at the widely reported “Freedom Street” performance, which was hosted by the legendary Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel, was Shatta Wale.
Following his recent release from prison, Vybz Kartel performed live for the first time in almost 14 years on December 31, 2024, at Kingston, Jamaica’s National Stadium.
International celebrities including Skillibeng, Busta Rhymes, and others performed at the concert, which has been called a landmark occasion in dancehall history.
