One person was killed and multiple people, including two firefighters, were injured in a major explosion at mining explosives stores at Odumasi, close to Konongo, in the Ashanti Region’s Asante Akyem Central Municipality.
Earth-shaking explosions caused by the fire, which started in shops selling dynamite and other explosives used by nearby miners, wrecked structures and injured scores. To receive care, victims have been taken to local hospitals.
A petrol station was roughly 50 meters from the explosion and the ensuing fire.

Authorities said the driver of the first firefighter on the site fainted after his truck was caught in the impact, but the precise origin of the explosion is yet unknown.

After suffering injuries, another firefighter was sent to the hospital.
Asante Akyem Central Municipal Fire Commander Divisional Officer Grade 2 Joe Bryden revealed to Luv FM that a citizen who tried to alert firemen to the need to evacuate perished in the explosion.
He was attempting to signal the firefighters to retreat, but the explosion happened before he could get away. I’ve been informed that he passed away, and he was seriously hurt,” Bryden remarked.

As investigations continue, authorities are still determining the complete scope of the damage and casualties.
