By consensus, the Appointments Committee suggests that Ablakwa, Akandoh, and ten other people be approved.

Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Health Minister-designate Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and ten other nominees who underwent vetting on Friday, January 31 will be recommended for confirmation by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
After the vetting process, a consensus was achieved on the choice.

Despite past conflicts that resulted in a minority walkout, the committee continued to review the nominations and finally decided that each of the twelve ministers-designate was qualified for their position.

Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifu, Minister-designate for the Savannah Region; Wilbert Petty Brentum, Minister-designate for the Western North Region; and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, are among the nominees slated for approval in addition to Okudzeto Ablakwa and Mintah Akandoh. The others are Francis Owusu Antwi, Minister-designate for the Bono East Region, Joseph Nelson, Minister-designate for the Western Region, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, and Puozuing Charles Lwanga, Minister-designate for the Upper West Region.

The Appointments Committee’s recommendation sets the stage for the plenary session of Parliament to make a final judgement, and a formal vote will decide if the nominees are confirmed.

The House’s approval of them is anticipated to be a formality given the committee’s unanimity.
