With effect from June 1, 2025, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) have announced an expansion of the hours of operation at the Tamale International Airport and the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi.
The goal of the expanded operating hours is to make both airports more accessible and convenient for travellers.

The news states that the Prempeh I International Airport would now be open until 11 p.m. instead of its existing closing time of 8 p.m.

The Tamale International Airport will also be open until 10 p.m., rather than 6 p.m.

“The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to all airlines,” the two organisations stated in a statement.

Additionally, domestic airlines have received advice from the GCAA to modify their timetables appropriately. The message also stated that “domestic airlines have been advised to increase their frequency to and from both airports.”

The public is urged to be aware of the changes and adjust their travel plans appropriately.
